INSPIRATION: Shout, Online Art
The inspiration for Week Twelve’s project came form two different places. First, the idea to ‘illustrate the concept of simplicity’ came directly from an online list of 100 ideas of uses fro a journal. Of the items listed #95 was ‘Illustrate the Concept of Simplicity” so I thought why not? Why limit this idea to simply a journal?
I found this list at www.kerismith.com, the website for an Author/Artist turned Guerilla Artist.
Second, the concept for the painting itself came from an online artist that I can only refer to as ‘Shout”. Initially I wanted to just have a white canvas with a single world or pattern on it, but as I scoured the Internet looking for something to spark my creativity I came across the work of Shout and immediately I know I needed to do something more (ironic? perhaps).
There was something about all of this work and style that was so simplistic it was moving. His images are so simple yet they had the ability to tell an entire story with them. I think this is something that many people strive to be able to do, break things down to the bear minimum while still getting this point across.
With that said, I thought the work of Shout was the perfect inspiration to build upon.
