WEEK 05: Reflection
Week Five is now done and over with and I now have a painting that for the most part I am very happy with.
The entire thing came together fairly quickly and was a pleasure to do. With a little spark of inspiration from a movie, I knew where I wanted to go and how to get there.
In the beginning when I was doing the pencil drawing of the spaceman I got very aggravated, primarily due to the fact that I cannot draw hands and feet for the life of me. Also, once I had the spaceman drawn on the canvass I realized that I would have liked to have him not as straight up and down but rather on a little bit of a slant, but I wasn’t going to erase it and start all over, so I just left it.
Now onto the Cow. I had a dream one night that involved a cow (I don’t remember anything else of the dream) and when I woke up the next morning I knew that the first thing I needed to do was add a cow to the painting. I think it actually works. Looking back on it I now wish I had of drawn the cow upside down to add a better sense of direction and interestingness, but it was done so I moved on.
As for the painting being upside down, well I think it is a little more appealing to the eye as it causes a little more thinking to be done about it. I think.
I really enjoy what came our of this week’s project and I think this is the first project I have completed so far that I actually want to display in my home.
