WEEK 09: Reflection
Last week’s project was enjoyable, easy to complete and was something I have wanted to do for some time.
Although I have used Sketchup extensively in the past and actually teach it in adult education classes, I haven’t touched the program in any way for about a year. So with that said it was good to get back to using it.
One challenge I did have was re-learning Sketchup for the Mac platform. Typically programs in both worlds have similar default shortcut commands, however, when it comes to Sketchup the commands and controls are very different. No matter how hard I tried I couldn’t for the life of me map the controls to what I am accustomed to. Because of this control issue there were a number of times when I screwed up big time.
Overall this project was good for me, it helped to re-affirm (if only to myself) that I am more practical than anything. Some people have made the comments that it wasn’t a house I created, that it didn’t have more than one bathroom and it wasn’t bigger, but really, where I am in my life and where I see myself going, these types of things aren’t all that important to me.
Some may say that this will change in the future, and if it does than fine, but for the life style I currently lead and where I see myself in 10 years, the living space I designed I would be more than satisfied with.
