WEEK 22: Get Mugged

Last week’s project was in conjunction with Museum London.

During Friday’s Museum Underground event, Get Mugged: Friday Night at the Museum, I was asked to set up a photo booth and take some Mug Shots of attendees throughout the evening.

Although in the beginning this seemed like a simple one day (or few hour) task, I spent the majority of the week developing a process to make the evening more interactive and to make it work smoothly.

The process included the following elements:

  • Apple Automator & Photoshop Scripting
  • Custom Image Title Block
  • Custom Tumblr Website & Process for Uploading Photos
  • Slideshow for Image Showing During Event

The process I set up for myself not only made things easier for me to process the images but also allowed for attendees to easily find and download their images from the night.

To help share the images throughout the evening a TV was brought in to play a slideshow of selected images. Having the TV on display played a large role in people’s willingness to take part in their own Mug Shot where-as they might not have otherwise.

Rough, low-res, black & white images from the evening’s events can be found at the website:

mugshots.kevinvanlierop.com

There is also an option to order hi-res, colour and black & white images (colour corrected & straightened).

I have pulled out a few of my favourite shots from the evening to share here.
